LG Electronics starts preorders for G7 ThinQ smartphone

SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's No. 2 tech giant, LG Electronics Inc., on Friday started perorders for its latest smartphones in the home market, with local mobile carriers providing discounts of up to 247,000 won (US$231) depending on monthly subscription plans.
The company started preorders for the LG G7 ThinQ and the LG G7 ThinQ Plus at official price tags of 898,700 won and 976,800 won, respectively.
Just as Samsung Electronics Co. did with its Galaxy S9, LG will release unlocked LG G7 ThinQ smartphones not attached to any mobile carriers in order to provide users with more choice.
The LG G7 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch "Super Bright Display" screen that is brighter than its rivals for outdoor usage, along with "New Second Screen" at the top of the display, which is similar to the notch design found on the U.S. tech giant Apple Inc.'s iPhone X.
The LG G7 ThinQ features a main camera with dual lenses, both using 16-megapixel sensors, along with an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The dual system is composed of a zoom and wide angle lens setup.
The company did not immediately release the first-day sales performance of its LG G7 ThinQ smartphones. Their official release is slated for May 18.
